Trump Looking at Safety, Security of US Citizens

President Donald Trump applies a business-minded approach to governance and prioritizes the safety and security of American citizens in multiple ways, Rep. Jack Bergman, R-Mich., said Monday on Newsmax.

“He brings that business acumen and way of getting things done to the White House,” Bergman said during an appearance on National Report.

Reflecting on recent leadership, he remarked, “And, boy, over the last four years, we’ve never seen a bigger difference between people who actually understood business and the last administration, where there was no leadership, no business acumen, no nothing that was the right skill set needed in a president of the United States.”

Bergman also discussed Trump’s approach to tariffs on Mexico and Canada, emphasizing that these policies serve national security interests.

“We know that the VEOs, the violent extremist organizations, other entities, the cartels, they look at us, at our borders—north and south—as a sieve,” he explained. “And it’s just been porous through. So the first step that the president is bringing to both Canada and Mexico is to say, ‘We’re going to secure our borders, and we’re going to make sure that we want to work with you to secure the trade necessary’ so that the countries can, if you will, negotiate every day to do the right thing for our citizens here and the Mexican government for theirs, or the Canadian government for theirs.”

Expressing enthusiasm for these efforts, Bergman added, “I’m so excited. And you see the energy all over the place to have the Trump administration actually saying they were going to do something and then do it.”
