Trump Rightfully Reorienting Military
President Donald Trump is taking action to eliminate ineffective policies in the U.S. military that do not contribute to future security, including vaccine mandates and DEI initiatives, Rep. Jack Bergman, R-Mich., said Thursday on Newsmax.
This week, Trump pledged to reinstate more than 8,000 service members who were discharged for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine and promised to provide them with back pay. He also vowed to rebuild the military and focus on avoiding unnecessary conflicts during his term, stating that he would sign an order preventing military personnel from being subjected to radical political theories and social experiments while on duty.
“It’s a great start,” said Bergman, a retired three-star lieutenant general in the U.S. Marine Corps, during an appearance on National Report. “It sends the signal that when something isn’t working—whether it’s vaccinations in the military, DEI initiatives, or certain training programs—it needs to stop.”
He emphasized that Trump is eliminating policies that have not been effective and do not contribute to national security.
“And President Trump is stopping the things that aren’t working, haven’t been working for a while, and have no value to our future security,” Bergman stated. “Just remember, the military is in place for one reason: to fight and win wars, safety, and security. And there’s one word that describes it. We have to be lethal. Lethal to the point where our adversaries, potential adversaries say, ‘I’m not going to take on the United States military because I know that they’re going to kick my backside and I’m going to lose.'”
Bergman reinforced the need for military strength, concluding, “That’s what we have to have … because we come with one purpose. You engage us, you’re going to die.”
